About My Clients

I like working with clients who have reason to explore questions of identity. Many ND people wonder why they seem so different from what's expected of them. They may feel alienated from their bodies or their experiences; may be LGBTQ+ with related social or family trauma; or, like any human, they may simply be transitioning into or out of a new or stressful phase of their lives. We explore unmasking, authentic identity, and aligning with a healthy sense of self, to find joy.

My Background and Approach

My approach is client-centered, and my strengths include radical acceptance, with an eye to recognizing and (re)learning to listen to their own instincts. My clients are generally aware of the disconnect modern society demands from all of us (or train into us). Institutional structures and demands have taught us to distrust our own bodily experiences, effectively separating us from our selves. I take a somatic approach to stress and trauma, bringing gentle awareness, self-compassion, and tangible strategies for comprehension and healing. Some traumatized clients may need to learn or re-learn how to recognize their emotions, thoughts, and somatic sensations, how experience them, and how to allow the body to do what it needs to do in order to honor them. My experiential approaches may incorporate art, music, mindfulness, or movement, building on the client's interests. Together, we create a toolbox of strategies for unshaming, strengthening, and healing a heart and a life.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

As an neurodivergent, cisgender lesbian who is still on my own journey, I believe everyone has their own path and their own knapsack of life-stuff to carry while they walk it. Sometimes it helps to have someone to walk with, perhaps helping evaluate knapsack contents: what to keep, what to leave behind. I believe that at their deepest core, people know who they are, and what they need, to move themselves toward healing, wellness, and alignment with their core. The body knows, too, sometimes more keenly than the brain. I believe that starting with and building on interests and strengths is the most affirming means of self-discovery. Some of the most important work that happens in my practice comes from this reacquaintance: the biology of the body's experiences and sensations, and the biography of stories that the brain tells, can reconnect, reintegrate, and restore one another.
